About Me.
Amateur Radio experience:
Although my first name is Kevin, I do NOT normally use Kevin. Instead I go by the name Len.
I have been "licenced", certified since 1964. My first call sign was VO1GT. Since that time I have held a number of call: VO1CM, VO2AB, VE1MY and finally VE9MY since 1993.
I enjoy DX'ing, contesting, activating IOTA's and Canadian Islands. As of the end of 2010 Linda, VE9GLF and I have operated from 13 IOTA's and over 150 Canadian Islands.
Canadian National Parks on the Air (CNPOTA) and Parks on the Air has been high on my list since about June of 2019. The CNPOTA program was for 2019 only and ends on 31 December. When that happens at end of the year I will have operated from 45 Canadian National Parks and National Historic Sites. All that were on the list for NB, PEI, with 6 in NL and 22 in NS, for a total of 45. Now that CNPOTA is over, I have continued to operate fixed mobile for POTA and WWFF (World Wide Flora & Fauna) which has the slogan, "make nature your shack".
QSL information. I prefer QSL via the bureau and respond to all direct requests within about a month normally. Unfortunately I get many QSL requests for direct QSL's without any or insufficient return postage. The present Postal rate to International is US$ 3 and for USA is +$1. Another problem is USA stations that send return envelope with US postage affixed. Sorry but this doesn't work. Direct requests with insufficient postage will be sent via the bureau system. I will also send via bureau for e-mail requests. Just give me the callsign, and QSO data and your QSL(s) will go with the next bureau shipment.
In the past couple of years I have started working some RTTY, PSK31 and FT8 . Unfortunately I let my CW skills drop some time ago and wish sometimes I could work that DX on CW, Hi!.
I am a member of the Loyalist City Amateur Radio Club. As of May 1st, 2019, after almost 20 years of managing the RAC National Incoming QSL Bureau for Canada, These duties have been turned over to Ed Spingola, VA3TPV in Ontario. Please see Home page for change of address.
